Process Platform for Core Banking Software Products

Project description.

█ Context:

  • Process development, turnaround and improvement for engineering technologies, digital solutions and DevOps scale-up capability.
  • Interim Process Leadership in all 3 (three) business regions. Serving as a senior technical resource and interfacing with senior management as well with software development teams. The role was the link between Global Process Development and Enterprise DevOps Technical Community.
  • Identifying innovative and complex technology opportunities to support strategic business and DevOps initiatives with a strong focus on operations and processes.

► Process Leadership

  • Translated the overall business strategy into a robust process development agenda applied in parallel to all 3 (three) business regions. Implemented general DevOps processes for R&D software developers across multiple regions and the centralized global IS (information system) platform.
  • Constructed global project portfolios and resource planning across multiple technical and product platforms (Avaloq, Temenos T24, Triple A Plus, other wealth management core banking software products).
  • Implemented new process technologies and applied them to increase software delivery capacity (such as cycle time improvement, troubleshooting, usage of technology tools, cost reduction, and minimizing waste), improve overall DevOps efficiency and business KPIs, and create a framework to self-create new process without external assistance.
  • Implemented tools and predictive models to ensure consistent software development quality, best-in-class process capability and realistic KPIs. Embedding the necessary risk management practices and best-practices management for DevOps programmes (multiple projects and workflows) for native transformational change.

► Secondary Processes

  • Created the framework for the strict protection of intellectual property with the most realistic ROI investment.
  • Created an adaptive framework focused on long-term competitive advantage by encouraging the R&D teams to:
    • discover, develop and deploy new technology platforms,
    • become continuous technology learners,
    • increase technical rigour,
    • and implement best DevOps practices globally.

► Tools & Methodologies

  • Continuous integration and build systems with 3rd party Cloud hosting services (GCP, AWS, Azure), open-source modules, case infrastructure (JIRA Align, Jira Software, Jira Core, Confluence), Linux, Unix, SQL, MySQL, SQLite, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, Tortoise SVN.
  • Using enterprise IT and software, including Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ERP (Oracle and SAP), cloud/SaaS, security, mobile, BI, planning systems and execution systems, to cover Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, ITIL. Kanban, IT Risk Management methodologies.

█ Results:

  • Increased Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) while increasing Quality Assurance and overall integrity of the software coding.
  • Implemented processes allowed the internal consistency of the DevOps teams with the infrastructure capacity, final client requests, and other programmes and corporate technical and specialist standards.

Execution Framework in practice. This case study shows how the Execution Framework was used to redesign a process and product platform for core banking and wealth software, under strict regulatory, technical and go-to-market constraints. The lessons from this work feed into our doctrine on Unified Data Governance and FinTech/WealthTech execution.
